Greetings, Balconeers! It's time once again for our weekly foray into the magical world of classic and not-so-classic films with a little program we like to call Matinee in the Balcony! And remember, to nominate cartoons, shorts, and features for future matinees, simply click on "Contact Us" above or visit the Matinee Memories area of our Message Boards!

A malicious cucumber from Venus is lurking in a cave on Earth and crapping big bats that bite people on the neck and turn them into mindless slaves whose only impulse is to kill! Kill! KILL! Can IT be stopped? Only Lee Van Cleef and Peter Graves know the terrible secret of IT, but they have different points of view on the subject. Beverly Garland also stars in Roger Corman's much-loved 1956 sci-fi classic It Conquered The World, now showing at Matinee in the Balcony. Plus our usual fine array of short subjects! Click the pic at left and ROLL THE FILM, JULIO!

Well, Bomba, Red Ryder, and the East Side Kids are fun, but aren't we all occasionally in the mood for a movie that's raw, rough, and ruthless? Jailbird Burt Lancaster battles sadistic guard Hume Cronyn in the 1947 convict classic Brute Force, with our usual eclectic and electric lineup of short subjects.

In dis area o' da Balcony, you'll find one o' dem East Side Kids pi'tchers on display. Once you're comfy in your seat (that is, as comfy as you can get with a spring sticking you in the ass) click the picture at left to start the show!

Well, we haven't got Shirley Temple, but if you'll settle for the next best thing - Conrad Nagel - enjoy Sinful Cargo and an outstanding lineup of short subjects by clicking the kid at left!

Evelyn Ankers and Milburn Stone LOOK the picture of happiness in those smart new hats, but in a few minutes mad scientist John Carradine is going to put Evelyn's sister's sex glands into a gorilla, or something like that, and turn the killer ape into... well, into the Captive Wild Woman. Plus short subjects! Click the pic at left!

Now, normally star "Wild Bill" Elliott is a peaceable man, but don't count on it when Red Ryder matches wits, fists, and bullets with the Tucson Raiders. Plus our usual array of sterling short subjects, specially selected for you viewing entertainment. Click the pic at left and let the show begin, pardners!

A spine-tingling murder mystery from Monogram Pictures, the people who gave us The Ape Man and Private Snuffy Smith, is still showing on our second screen. Can Detective Kitty O'Day crack the case? Click the pic at left to find out!

Cat-Women of the Moon (1953) is available for viewing in our second-run annex. Click any of the she-cats in the black leotards to be transported away to the moon, which is populated by Cat-Women. Hence the title. And hey, there's none of this "Curse of the Cat People is a great movie, lack of cat people notwithstanding" baloney around here. No sir and/or ma'am. When we offer Cat-Women of the Moon, you can rest assured that there are (a) Cat-Women, and (b) the moon. Our guarantee to YOU, our valued patrons!

Whatsa matter, you've never seen a talking mule before?

You'll believe a mule can talk! -- but if you missed the proof, head next door to the Balcony Grind House (watch out for the sticky floors and broken seats) for Francis Goes to West Point.

Click the pic at left to enter the viewing chamber!

Gosh, Peggy Ann, what happened to your underpants?

And if you are WAY late but still want to check up on all the action with BOMBA the JUNGLE BOY, fret not: he's still hanging around, too.

To get there, click on the picture of Bomba to the left! No, YOUR left!
